Victoria Day

I debated putting this photo up, I mean, look at that bump on the photo lower right. But then I figured, if it didn't bother Victoria, it shouldn't bother me. Hopefully it was just the couch she was sitting on. It is a framed photo I found in my great-grandmother's papers which now unceremoniously resides on Violinist's bedroom bookshelf, between a Bart Simpson figurine and James Herriot - a Remembrance Day poppy stuck into the frame.

This is Victoria Day Weekend or The May 24th Weekend, wherein Canadians celebrate the birth of Queen Victoria, born May 24, 1819. The holiday, celebrated the Monday before May 24th has come early this year. Violinist and I traveled via Via Rail last night back home from Ottawa. Aside from a spectacular sunset, all along the route we were treated to people celebrating with backyard fireworks. Happy 24th!

I have a similar bump but I'm coping just fine. Victoria has always fascinated me. Quite a woman. Now, how could I live so close to the border and not know a thing that goes on over there?

I will also keep my bump under cover, thank you! That is a neat photo to have, though. I am ashamed to say that I would not have known who that was had you not told me. I have been reading lately about the British Empire in India, so that era is kind of fascinating to me at the moment. It's nice to have a picture in my head now. Happy Victoria Day!
